ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL
Bay Hill Orlando Florida
Arnie would have been a proud man looking down on his Tournament as he watched the back 9 of the final day unfold.
Rory McIlroy stormed through the field to sit on top of the pile with just 3 holes to play. That was until Marc Leishman unleashed a magnificent 40 ft eagle putt to take him from 2 shots down to 1 shot clear of the field. Rory bogeyed the last to leave him on -9 and a tie for 4th. While Leishman kept his nerve up 17 and 18 with 2 fine Pars and gave him only his 2nd PGA win.
With no European Tour event being held this week most of the top players are heading over to Houston Texas for the WGC- Dell Technologies Match Play being held at the Austin CC, Austin, Texas, USA
The LPGA tour ended up in Pheonix Arizona for the Bank of Hope Founders Cup
Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist triumphed with a -25 finishing 2 clear of, I. Chun, S. Lewis and A. Jutanugarn all finishing on -23.
This week’s other news is dominated by Muirfield’s Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers to allow Ladies to become members of the historical Golf Club after a second ballot vote.
This in turn, bought remarks from Rory McIlroy ahead of the Arnold Palmer Invitational as to why there were still 123 members against the proposal. Probably questioning why equality in this day and age was so hard to bear. Although it seems that the first lady member may have some time to wait, as it turns out that the Golf Club have opened the WAITING LIST for lady members. I guess that waiting list may have quite a few names ahead of the first woman as it is 6/7 years long.
Charley Hull got in on the act by calling for the Ricoh Women’s British Open to be played there. That would ruffle a few feathers Charley.
Ok that’s all for this week, as we get ever closer to the 6th April.
Have a great weeks golf as the weather improves all the time. Keep your head down and hit through the ball.
See you next week.
