Jordan reaches new heights

spieth-300-mikelawrieJordan Spieth sank a 30 foot putt in the 3rd extra playoff hole  to give him his 1st tour win of the season and take the Valspar Championship at the Innisbrook resort in Florida.

Spieth beat Sean O’Hair and Ryder Cup team-mate Patrick Reed  at the 17th to secure his second PGA Tour title, after the 3 players had finished 10-under for the tournament.

Opening the play-off at the 18th, Spieth saw a 10-foot birdie putt for victory run just wide of the hole,  Reed in the mean time produced a world-class par-save by getting the ball out from under the lip of the bunker and putting from 15-feet.

The play-off could have continued when Reed and O’Hair both completed the 17th in par, but Spieth’s 30foot putt from the left-hand side of the green rolled in and gave the 21-year-old his first success since the 2013 John Deere classic, moving him up to 6th in the World Rankings, the highest of his career so far.
